POEM FOR A WINTER'S NIGHT

Michael Edwards

In notes composed

the water flows

and carries dreams

in rhythmic streams

that flow through nature’s imagery

I hear the symphony.

This picture is a new album cover of a band called Glass Tiger.
Although not known here in the UK, Glass Tiger made their name in the 80s and still remain very popular in America and their home country, Canada. They have worked with Rod Stewart who has also recorded some of their songs and they are an award winning group.

I've been working with them over the last three months and the image featured on the cover was chosen from several concepts which I developed from their fairly tight brief. I also did another painting for the back of the album.

This year they had all their gigs cancelled and were looking for something to do and hit on the idea of a Christmas album. They have contributions to their album from an orchestra here in the UK, a singer in Italy, an opera singer in LA and for their cover from me here in middle England. We have all done short interview videos which they are putting together into a promo video which I hope they will be putting on YouTube so I wait to see.

It's been a great experience working with them but whether it leads to any others - well who knows.

The album has just been released and if you google 'Glass Tiger, Songs For A Winter's Night' you'll get many hits featuring the cover.

Yes - I'nm now waiting for the CD and vinyl versions to be released. I dealt with Sam Reid - many phone calls and a great guy.

        Hi Michael,

A beautiful Winter poem and picture.

Your words are so warm in their fluidity they make me forget that it is Winter.

Keep writing ✍ and safe during lockdown.

Thanks FB. The poem didn't take long to write but the painting took several months working closely with the band - now the album is produced I'm getting withdrawal symptons. It was a great experience.

GOOD MIDWEEK ~ UNCLE MIKE ~ Great Album Cover and Great Kudos ~ Will check later ! Love LP Covers and use them to pass round as *Visuals* when we give talks on John Denver etc. When we help Seniors to *Downsize to Sheltered Accommodation* they often give us LPs in mint condition (Jim Reeves etc etc). Congrats on being a *Cover Artist* !

Blessings & Peace & Prayers for You & Jeanne
          Love Angela - Brian - Smokey (Bird Lover !) ! ! !

Beautiful! That’s so creative! I have a few snow globes! Best to you and the misses, congratulations

congratulations, your Art deserves more recognition, I wish you only continued success Michael, I will be certain to check out the album (though admittedly I'm not much for Christmas-themed anything - sadly, the cost of being too much a cynic)

          • Michael Edwards

I'm also inclined to be a cynic as my next poem will demonstrate - will post it tomorrow if finished. Thanks LB

composition, an art you have so mastered, whether in print, or in paint
