Saff the Staffie mix Rottweiler, she is 8 years old and we are about to show that old dogs do learn new tricks!
Each session I have is a uniquely wonderful challenging experience, as for how long it takes to find the balance and respect needed in order to be trusted by all members of the pack!
As a behaviourist, I strongly believe that mother nature knows what it's doing and 99% of the time the only reason things don't go well, is because we are involved!
Training ourselves to think like them and understand the conversation on their level, is actually easier than you may think, the challenging part is not falling back into our old patterns!
Each time our dogs go into fight or flight, we have the opportunity to guide them in what is acceptable. They know what they are doing, we just need a better understanding of what we are doing.
Then you'll find the harmony, we all call love..

- Comment from author about the poem: To thoses here that truly know all my writings have seen the depths of my journey in life! I am self taught in all but the basic of reading and writing! I have been struggling for some time to find that hidden power, my client on Friday truly did that for me! After feeling the vibration left in this wonderful soul for domestic violence and abuse, we connected over mother nature! Never in my life would I thought I would be doing what I do, it's why I'm never stopping because life can truly be anything you want it to! I am the god dam prof and so the hell are you.... I will also add her review in the comments as to add weight to this point! We all can make a difference, from the boy who thought he'd never truly be much!

We had a session with Dan yesterday which was extremely helpful. His understanding and knowledge of how a dog's mind works and how human behaviour creates the dogs behaviour enabled me and my dog to turn a massive corner on a single session. I would definitely recommend Art of the Mutt to anyone struggling with their hound. Dan was great and easy to get along with and my dog gave him the upmost respect.
Dan, please never lose sight of what you are today. You are an authority on dogs and the behaviour, in addition to being a loving husband and father, a much respected poet and a sound, soul searching guy.
Recently we've seen you soul searching and being hard on yourself, questioning so many things. But here today is the positive Dan, self assured and proud with every right to be.
There are times when we all go downwards in spirit so I repeat - don't lose sight of what you are today.
Once again I'm going to remind you of that Desiderata piece i showed you quite a while ago now..... for you are a child of the universe with as much right to be here as the trees and the stars....... theres also another part of it about ..... be proud of your achievements....... there will always be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
There is so much wisdom in that piece.
My man, I did not and made sure my dogs were under the understanding of we are back on top!
The sea front was extremely busy and as I do, I noticed a couple on the green trying to untangle their leads!
Of course the unthinkable (in their view) had to happen! The big brick house bloke dropped the lead, on run a French Bulldog came at us and tried to have my dog!
It was so funny to see the dog stand just barking as none of us panicked! They obviously came rushing over and I just said what he needed to sort the dog abs even took his lead off him, changing its behaviour in moments!
I felt my passion lightly my way, we walked off and within a few streets I had a massive cry!
It\'s hard to not use the anger that emotional builds up or take it out on anyone else!
Yet as I read your words it truly settles my heart, as a few on here!
You\'re a legend to me that knows how to listen but not stray from his own heart!
Always appreciated
The time you take
Ps... This was just an hour ago
This is a great write and have such respect for you - as my Dad used to say ;
Be proud of youreself and always hold your head up high' and you've got so much to be proud of.
Dam right and even though I still can fail, it's about how we start again! Best foot forward or maybe not at all, nature will always be the best tool..
Always appreciate your time and definitely the rhymes, mixed with an art I wish I could find 😉
nine out of every ten cats are gonna agree with what DA and Michael have already said ... I know I do.............. write on ...
Neville
Ooooo you teaser, I see what you did but me and Puss in boots go way back my friend... Actually I got another video for tomorrows spit!
Where dogs & cats live in harmony and we forget all of the handed down nonsense!
Thanks a bunch for the inspiration, keep sailing on that sea no matter how choppy 😉
It is so wonderful to see you like this Dan, over the years I have seen you become this positive loving man who with his loving wife and daughter and his wonder with dogs become the way you are now. We all have those 'down' days but they get fewer and fewer as you come to terms with them a put them behind you. The future is always so bright and wonderful Dan and you are finding that future in your life.
Well done.
Andy
As always Andy your words ring clear, I'm motivated for Monday and ready for each lesson that appears!
With this spirit of existence I'll never disappear, to one day float down that river knowing all life is here!
Thank you again for the company over the years!
