Into Another Place.

Goldfinch60

I sit there reading my book

And suddenly I am no longer there.

I have slipped helplessly,

Slipped involuntarily

Into the words on the page

Taking me to the life

That the author has created.

It could be a world of mystery,

Of love or hate,

Of humour or sadness,

But I am out of my body

Enjoying that life,

Created for me to read.

    Good write Gold
Yes, we know that state when transported back to 1066, when we read of The Battle of Hastings. But wait - we wrote the book, having been there in person!

      Thanks Orchi.

If you had written the book you would have missed out the bit where you told Harold to look up!!

that's reading for you .. or rather that's a good read for ya .... I know exactly what you mean Andy ....

      • Goldfinch60

So true Neville, I get completely lost in some books and the time just flies away. Saying that I have only read one book in one go that was "The Day of the Jackal" by Frederick Forsyth, I finished it about 2 in the morning.

Go with books Andy, every time.
I get my books from Vinnies (sorry - a charity shop) They go (even quality stuff) for $2 a pop (that's approx a quid in pommy money) as they become out of fashion when electronic gadgetry is the thing now.

There is a shop close to me where you can get books for free, all you need to do is returns the book and give them any books that are going spare - amazing place.

          Keep well

nothing better, than the marriage of another's creativity to our own capacity for imagination: the fruits of such a pairing, birth some of the most genuinely momentous experience's in life

Very, very true LB, it is amazing the number of phrases that I have read have inspired me to write some of my poems.

Ah the pleasure of being lost in a good book. Pleasures i reserve for holidays when i can carelessly relax in comfortable frame of mind.

Yes I can often get lost in a good book, it is wonderful.
