Swansong

Neville

Swansong

I once thought I might live for ever

But your reading these words

Proved me wrong

So I thought I might write you a letter

But it turned into a

Poetic, prophetic swansong …

Don't we all have that same illusion mon ami ? The inevitable occurs and we have to surrender as these few lines impressively prove with solemn yet an ever so slight wry humour. - or maybe that is just me .............. x

I have plenty of thoses, I used to not want to hear now I've learnt to hold on to that tear!

A few little lines made my head explode, now that's a captain of a poetic soul!

          Thanks for sharing!

But you'll be back tomorrow, surely.
And now, nor a swansong - in an old TV series, my Mum said that my Gran used to say, if anyone got shot or injured etc: 'The b****r will be back next week!' Ooohh!

              • Neville

back in the day, I'm betting your Nan was ever so astute .. thanks Orchidee 🙂

                Have you swans sing
                On water or wing
                And if you have heard
                This elegant bird
Is it rock, pop, or swing
That you’ve heard this bird sing.

                • Neville

................... I do quite like my rock & my folk and funnily enough, I have just been penning something along these lines ... but for now I'm gonna thank ya and sign orf without my usual cygneture, becuz the N's tired .......... Z 🙂

That swansong is within all of us but we still have too much to do to sing it yet.

lol, this is so relatable to us scribblers, what W B Yeats took a page to unravel, you uncoiled within two stanzas my friend,
                      Brilliant!

Nice view Neville, slightly darkly through a funnily dry lens! I should think about writing a will. Thanks
