I GOT UP

Michael Edwards

I GOT UP

I woke up this morning

and went down the stars

stretching and yawning.

And please don’t decry it

if there weren’t any stairs

I never would try it.

It’s not easy I know

but the other way down

is through the window.

It must be good to go down the 'stars', I find the stairs are safer.

It sure is and we use the same stairs to go up as well as to come down - it saves having to have two sets of stairs.

Washed and scrubbed and at Sainsburys for 7am - groceries put away - prep done for tonights meal - cleaned the study - wrapped a birthday present for my grandson - now the rest of my day to myself.
And you have a good year too - I'll be toasting to the future and tunnels end if covid doesn't get me first

Climbing through windows on stairs to the star-way - what a wonderful dream this read stirs in me - - super work Michael.

It's great after a nightssleep coming down stairs to greet the new day. Unless you live in a bungalow of course. Thanks Fay.

'The bulldozer outside the kitchen window was quite a big one.

                He stared at it.

“Yellow,” he thought, and stomped off back to his bedroom to get dressed.'
from opening 'scene' of 'the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy',
your words took me right back to that beloved character Michael...
your painting had me dreading those endless pages of Moby Dick and that eventual final battle where Captain Ahab found the end: he so fervently chased...
Happy New Year Michael, stay safe

                • dusk arising

                  Though seasonal eatings a chore
i continually gorge more and more
                  now i'm saying my prayers
                  before going downstairs
in case i should fall through the floor

you see, you've again got me started
though my composition may be quite halfhearted
when i fell through that ceiling
                  there came a rumbling feeling
                  and then i resoundingly farted

                  The odour which the arose
                  got up the olifactory nose
                  the pong was so lousy
                  i began to feel drowsy
                  I'm writing this quite comatose

                        I too love the artwork!

Thank you Robert. It is many miles away from most of mny commissioned work but is proving an enjoyable exercise in an alternative art form. I am learning as I go and exploring which paper is best. i have just tried it on cold pressed watercolour paper but ,of the types I have tried thus far, quality card is the best support even though it is unsized and doesn't take the colour as well. I haven't yet tried hot pressed watercolour paper which I think may well work best.

Looks quite marketable to me. Could you do it as prints, so as to have multiple copies? - I'm pretty active on Facebook - Bob Richmond there, in Tennessee. Are you there?
