Croquet in the Snow.

Goldfinch60

Another day on the lawn,

A strange day

With inclement weather.

I have played in all seasons,

The wonder of spring

With the temperature rising,

The heat of summer

Where the heat draws the strength

From my body,

The wonder of autumn

Who shows Natures Palette

At its absolute best.

Then I have played in winter

Where the cold rain drops,

But I am dry in my clothes

And all is well.

But then this day was different,

It was snowing!

I had never played in snow.

I saw the people in their cars

Looking at us with humour

As they passed by,

Thinking “Look at those idiots,

Playing croquet in the snow”.

I did not care,

I was having a great time

As each ball ploughed the snow

On its way to the hoop.

Yes It was a great time

And I give it my highest honour,

I would do it again,

And play croquet in the snow.

    A fine write Gold.
The cold can draw the strength from our body too. I seem to be hungrier on colder days, even after short shopping trip.
I blame Clement for the weather. He stays in - inclement! A corny joke there. lol.

Thanks Orchi, I enjoy the cold much more than the hot, I start moaning if the temperature gets above 15 degrees C.

      'It wasn't snowing that hard!'
your exclamation of vehement justification, pre-empting all the whiny negative responses had me chuckling so hard, lol
last time it was the cyclist's I think, now its the drivers, oh these busybodies when will they let a man just play with his balls in peace... (ahem, cough, ahem...) lol
(sorry, just in a funny mood my friend)

Thanks Mek, being in a funny mood can bring light to other's worlds as it has to mine.

I'm not that good on chanting of nature but when one does so well I can feel it, I am even croqueting with you right now

        • Goldfinch60

Thank you Amon, come along by all means but it may be a little far for you to come for an afternoon's croquet. LOL

Okay, but my heart can reach out to anywhere even during the lockdown for as long your words afford to carry me like you did

          • Fay Slimm.

Must have been fun to try knocking the snow off your shots my friend - a cool love-song too.

            • Goldfinch60

              It was great fun Fay.

I have always liked The Flying PIckets, I was in a Barbershop Chorus for a few years at one time.

It's difficult to think of you giving your balls some hammer in the snow. Is there no limit to your adventurous outlook when in ladies company on the green?

                • Goldfinch60

They certainly needed a good hammer, mind you there were no ladies playing only us two idiots who play in all weathers.

I've had crumpets in custard but never croquet in snow. lol
                  Nice one Andy.

                  • Goldfinch60

                    It is quite tasty Michael.
