Back in the days of my youth
I took that ‘Ferry Across The Mersey’
And found that ‘I Liked It’,
And listened to it in joy.
I thought about those songs
And wondered ‘How Do You Do It?’
Then it came to me
That with so much music around me,
And whenever Gerry sang
‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’
I would never be alone.

- Comment from author about the poem: I saw Gerry and the Pacemakers in September 2015 on there farewell tour and thought they were just as good as they were in the 1960s, he will never walk alone.

Ohh, they were 'proper' songs, not like some garbage nowadays!
Very true Orchi. The sixties was a great time for pop music.

A great tribute Andy...
I once sang on stage with the man himself at the Lido in Bedford .. must have been late 70's .............
That must have been great Neville.

One of my faves too - their appeal was great back in the day and your tribute is very relatable Andy......... thanking you for these nostalgic moments today
Back in the day there were some wonderful groups.

sadly, I was only introduced to his genius through my love of all things LFC and their adopted humane ideology within those few words of:
'You'll Never Walk Alone',
I still vividly recall those life affirming goosebumps I felt when some 50'000 sang it (or bravely attempted - to) as one: a wonderful experience to help create or behold,
thanks for the road down a pleasant memory lane Andy, a wonderful dedication
Thank you Mek, he was a very good singer, as I said I saw him live in his farewell tour a few years ago and he was just as good.
