My Friend

Fay Slimm.

My Friend.

You
bundle of heaven-made cuddly innocence,

my morning ray of waiting ritual,

that anticipatory gift of looked-for shine
as I open my night weighted eyes,

You
docile bone-loving mistress of patience
have grown yourself into my days.

You
bouquet of sweetest canine-warm greeting,

my favoured scent of available cheeriness,

model of intelligent compatibility
dressing each rising in mutual patting,

You
perfecter of dumb communication
make my aloneness so touchingly grateful.

Tessa my friend
by craft of affectionate silence
your dog-sense adds spicy laughter to life.

Ahhh, the sweetest thing! What more could one want?! Not a lot more besides. A little, or maybe large dog as companion, or maybe a cat, or both?! Well, human company too.

    • Fay Slimm.

Yes a pet is a blessing in many ways - a four footed companion who allowing us to learn from their dignity will help us to deal better with other humans eh ? - Thank you dear Orchi for your visit and comment.

Doggies, so loveable but..... i have a problem... You see, I always read your poetry and have been captured by you take on the natural worlds little beauties and your affinity with them but...... surely a dog won't allow such peaceful contemplation by the side of a stream full of interesting things to chase and bite? Grrrrrr

          • Fay Slimm.

Your comments are always so understanding dear dusk and there could be a problem with some little pets
but Tess is a cutie who sits by my side and quietly waits while I take in nature's beauty - -- have always had dogs and she takes some beating for knowing without being told...... so glad you dropped by for a visit and read.

Love this but I'm a dog lover. we've often talked about getting one again (we used to always have a dog) but have been put off by the fact that we travel a lot - or at least we used to - perhaps the time has come. But then we be off again if ever we get out of this current impasse.

Dogs are so wonderful Fay and yours looks delightful. I was brought up with dogs and recently my children have said why do I not get a dog but I do not think I could have one at the moment as I have too many things going on, at least I will do once lockdown ceases.

'that anticipatory gift of looked-for shine
as I open my night weighted eyes',
I: am a Devout lover of Dog's, so once more your words - penetrate deep...
