Birdspeak
Tell me darling, tell me do
why do owls too-wit-to-woo
…
And why do so many song birds sing
While starlings merely murmur …..

........... thank you for alighting here & leaving a little bit of writing here.......
Absolutely no problem at all, Nev.----------- In all my posts I do endeavour to be both informative and educative with perhaps a soupcon of--------------?entertainment?
You could feel it throughout the nation
their skyward gaze contemplation
the darkening skies
amazed their eyes
behold, their first mumuration
............. tis with tremendous consternation, I missed that first murmeration .. but certainly enjoy reading and writing about em ................. tis true enough DA .. Cheers, mate .......................
Some coo to woo
Some (humans) have noisy chatter
But, just need the sweet sound of murmur is all a starlings needs to reach its darling.
Entertaining post indeed
....................... you might well be write my friend ............ and I thank you accordingly ....
This is an interesting little write...I confess I don't know a lot about birds but I thought they all sung loudly.....hmmm
.......................... it depends on whether they know all the words .. some just hum along while others tend to whisper and sigh ................. thank you Christina
Every morning there is so much noise from the tree beside my house...............never heard the murmur
....... I suggest you tell the tree to shut up .. politely though in the first instance and then just look to the sky and wonder ................................ if after 6 months or so you dont get it .. Google starling murmeration ........................................... All Good Things, Neville
For many animals we have a verb for the animal's making the sound, and another word entirely for the sound the animal makes. Dogs bark, they go bow-wow. Owls hoot, they go too-wit-to-woo. Sheep and Trumps bleat, they go baa and fake news! respectively.
............. true enough .. but sheep invariably have a wider vocabulary than Trumps ... Cheers

All God's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing loud and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
some just clap their hands, paws or anything you like now
................ very good Michael a luverly wrendition my friend .. thank you 🙂
The symphony of birds singing is so wondrous to me. I have seen murmurations in the live and they are one of natures most magnificent sights.
Andy
they are, aren't they Andy like a living breathing aurora borealis .. truly amazing .. thank you kindly for seeing and understanding beyond just my scribble ............................ Neville
I just love your play on words here Nev.. - the murmurations of starling assemblies are always a wonder for bird-lovers like me and am I caught this little gem of a tribute
......................... I am thrilled that you did Fay ........ thanking you BIG ..........
Startling murmuration's and Zebra's camouflage tactics are far too similar - in tone, to the 'herd' mindset in Longfellow's 'A psalm of life' for us to ignore: Nature's sobering pattern for survival's ease, I feel...
as usual, an intriguingly clever twist my friend, brilliantly executed
.............. I am truly ever so grateful for you stopping by like this L.B and even more so ..
