I WOKED

Michael Edwards

WOKED

Yesterday:

I woke up early feeling surly

for I’d been fast asleep

Today:

I woke up late feeling great

for I’d been slow asleep.

    I woke up early
    And found these words
    And saw the painting
I am off to a good day.

You didn't woked then - it's good to wake - you know you're still alive.

How is Miss B's sleep? Does she count syllables to get to sleep, instead of sheep?

D'you ever wonder on opening yer eyes
How sleeptime lingers or sometimes flies
        then the brain recovers
as you throw back your covers
and the missus farts as soundly she lies

I like the somber tone to the bright water colours you've utilised, especially framed by that grey - as if a reminder, that just beyond this listless dreary days of Winter: our months of Spring and Summer await our arrival with muted anticipation.
Let all do our best to say safe and once more experience: Nature's blossoming seasons...
a wonderful artwork Michael, subtle - ever so subtle,

Ha ha - - you have such a way of using rhyme-words - another bit of welcome wit from your clever pen Michael - --- it well describes my nightly trials too.
