Tune: Michael
('All my hope on God is founded')
Revelation 11 v.15-19
*********
Seventh angel sounded, there be
Great voices, they heavenly
Saying, The kingdoms of this world
Are become, banners unfurled
Become kingdoms of our
Lord and Christ, He reigns each hour
He shall reign ever and ever
His rule shall decrease never
Four and twenty elders gathered
Round God's throne they there worshipped
Fell on faces before
Him, and there did Him adore
Saying, We give you thanks, O Lord
God Almighty, true your word
You are, and were, and are to come
You the high eternal one
For you have taken too
Your great power, reigned anew
Nations were angry, your wrath be
Come, time of dead's judgement, see
And reward to servants, prophets
And to saints, without sin's taints
Those too that you name fear
Small and great, who hold it dear
Destruction to those who destroy
The earth, with their evil ploys
Then temple of God was opened
In heaven, the skies did rend
There in temple the ark* (*box)
Of the covenant, now hark
Hark, and see lightnings and voices
Yet there godly rejoicings
Then there thunderings and earthquake
Great hail, all the land does shake
Third woe here does appear
The Lord's kingdom reigns for e'er

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.7.8.7.6.7. metre. A favourite hymn of a former Vicar. I am still in touch with him and his wife over 30 years after they left our town.

There's a harp version of Fanfare For The Common Man also somewhere on YouTube
Thanks M. Erm, nope!
Always enjoy reading these Orchi.

Thanks for lovely sound and words
Thanks Suresh.
I am sure I commented on this yesterday saying that today it is my turn by playing the eighth trumpet to drown out your singing.
