Solitary

Lily_

My whole life I always felt like

I just needed my own space

my thoughts were cluttered with your yelling

I should have seen it in the first place

I just needed time to get my head straight

When people ask me how I'm doing, "Yes, I'm Ok"

that's what you're supposed to say..

I wish I could have conversations with the old me

I wish somebody would have told me

You don't have to go through their pain

your road is different you'll be OK.

Block your ears what they're saying isn't real

rest your eyes

the exhaustion will make you think unclear

take some time get your head straight

You don't have to carry their weight

I wish I could have conversations with the old me

I wish somebody would have told me

Keep working late, it will be worth it one day

you don't have to be home, they can eat on their own

you're not their fucking mother anyway.

Catch your breath

find your head space

Trust yourself you're going to be ok

You're allowed to want to be alone

you're allowed to tell them no..

In the morning they'll pretend to atone

but when someone asks you how you're doing

you don't have to pretend to be OK.

I wish I could have conversations with the old me

I wish somebody would have told me..

When people ask me how I'm doing, "Yes, I'm Ok"

Wow. This hits hard. I'm glad somebody else feels this way.

    All the love- PL xx

One day that old you will return and the strength within you will lead you to the better path in your life.
    Good emotive words Silk.

    Good write Silk.
Ooohh, I dunno. Shall I chat with me, myself, or I? That's three people! heehee.

I'm not sure anyone is convinced by advice (being told) by others - it has to be learnt the hard way. You seem to have cracked it, and converted that into an interesting piece of work.

If we all were to tell exactly 'how we are' when asked I think the world would become a very depressed place indeed. 'I'm OK thanks' Is as much a defense mechanism as it is a 'I don't wish to discuss it with you'.

Well expressed piece from a very personal viewpoint.

in the words we bequeath while choosing to share freely what wisdom we've gleaned from those perplexities clouding our lives,
we choose to arm those who will one day follow our very steps, and in so doing: we help ease that angst we've been carrying our adulthood's years of deep-end diving in shark infested waters: of our own 'choosing'...
a wonderful read you've shared dear Poet, thank you for inspiring my little scribbled reply

This is fantastic is soooo real. My heart goes out to you and Iā€™m so proud of you for finding your inner self and strength. You deserve it. You are enough.
