Steps Into My River.

Goldfinch60

The rain has stopped and My River is back,

No more flooded fields to stop me,

Stop me walking by its side.

As I walk there is much water in the fields

And My River is high

But all my friends are there.

The swans, the geese and the gulls

All greeting me like long lost friends,

I stop and greet them as they come to me.

As I walk on I have to smile

As there are the steps to a path,

A path the other side of My River,

But the path is hidden by water

So the steps lead straight down,

Straight down into My River.

I walk on and see the beauty

That I always see along My Path,

My Path along My River

Knowing that That Path

Will lead me to Eternity one day,

And My Life will be fulfilled.

Can ya do miracles? Can ya walk IN or ON the River, as well a walk BY it? Would ya still need ya welly boots for it?!
I've had to turn back on some walks, along some unpaved tracks. I've not got proper walking boots.

I only walk by My River, My Spirit walks above My River.

That lady river flows through your poetry like your inspirational muse. Surely, on the days after your life's fulfillment, there could be no finer tribute to your times in the company of your river than a bench for the living to sit in contemplation of the peace she brings.

Just great - sadly the river through our village is still very high but the wildlife endures - kingfishers, otters, et al.

          • Goldfinch60

That's so good to see that wildlife is still around Michael.

Keep on walking Andy, and you will find a lot of good and excitement just around the bend in that river of yours!

Mankind from inception has been drawn to the River, just as you have poetically taken the steps to yours.

Thank you, My River has always been there for me.

may we all find solace in what 'rivers' we can excavate from whatever meaning we glean of life and then, learn the wisdom to carry our 'rivers' with us, wherever our path may lead...
let those 'rivers' be our liberators and never, be warped into our 'settling cocoon' of anchors...
onwards, one step at a time to what next awaits,
till what's next is revealed as our final sip: of a lifetime's treasured breath...
onwards! my friend, let us dwell as much in our today's while cherishing each straining tug of our beloved yesterday's, let us 'choose' to search out those adventures - waiting, for us to realise: how brief a second takes to blink-by...
thanks for inspiring my little reply Andy, a wonderfully thought provoking read
