('Oft in danger, oft in woe')
Philippians 3 v.12-16 parts
*********
I press on here, that I may
Grow more Christ-like through each day
Not that I have yet attained
Fullness, but a measure gained
I press on to the high prize
Follow truths, and counter lies
It the prize of high calling
To know Christ sure in each thing
The calling of God it be
In His Son Christ Jesus, see
This I do, forgetting past
Looking forth to things that last
Things which are ahead of me
Help me, Lord, diligent be
Onwards, upwards, as you set
Your face like flint, prize did get
Forward then with constant mind
More of God's will, ways to find
Taking each step faithfully
'Til by God's grace perfect we

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 7.7.7.7. metre. The clip is as brief as the hymn author's life, sadly - Henry Kirke White, passed away aged 21, in 1806. You'll never sing all those verse in 1 min 2 secs! A former Minister gave his farewell sermon to us, including 'Onwards, upwards' (verse 4), though he had been in the military. Visons of little old ladies marching, as well as the men!

Yep, I'm sure the archbishop and his bishops - all your church's 'leaders' - feel a lot more alike jesus, sat in their finery in their palaces.... gross hypocrisy for all unblinkered eyes to see.
There is that too, dusk, But not everywhere.
Well, He spoke against them for that - their fine robes, wanting to be seen by others, etc.
Yep, there you go agreeing Orchidee.... well you can't really deny those 'facts' but...... the question in my mind is..... "Why do christians tolerate such practices which DIRECTLY CONTRADICT the teaching and values of jesus?".... They appear afraid to question this falseness...... sheep?.... flock???? .... blind faith?.... mindlessly doing things cos it seems the thing to do BUT DONT DARE TO question us about it.
Hypocrisy.
Miss Berles approves.
Thanks M. She 'progressing' on with checking them syllables?
well done, orchie! I've been going 'forward' all my life, but don't know if I am any closer to 'perfection'!
Thanks Fred. Oohhh, we're perfect already, you and I - well 99% anyway! heehee. I'm getting too big for my boots here!
It's what you choose that defines you, you the brother of Jesus.
Thanks M.
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
