Tune: Duke Street
('Fight the good fight')
Matthew 4 v.1-4
********
Jesus' time of temptation
In the wilderness, three (temptations), not one
Led of the Spirit to go there
For forty days and nights did bear
He has fasted, and was hungry
The tempter, devil, said did he
If you the Son of God true be
Command these stones be made bread, see
Jesus replied, Man shall live not
By bread alone, but this their lot
That they shall live by every word
From mouth of God, it can be heard
Help us, Lord, that our appetite
Selfish, with your strength may we fight
Not give in to ease, greedy gain
But follow you in love unfeign
Though temptations severe for you
You did not yield, you did not do
What lies if th devil did speak
But obeyed Father, humble, meek

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. The start of Lent - Ash Wednesday. This is severe enough (verse 5) - temptation to turn stones to bread after 40 days not eating. But more so, contrasted with Jesus' sinlessness. We may not even survive 40 days fasting, not that we normally called to do so.

Please excuse hymn that was one from my wedding to KP. It would be! heehee.
You were obviously tempted when you married KP. Was it worth it?
Andy
When you compose these ditties do you barricade the windows as in that fine voice of yours you sing along to your delightful keyboard accompanyment.
I'm starting a collection for Fido earmuffs.
Do I have to sing them? they ask! Yep, every one of 'em! Also, Fido may bark loud enough to drown me out.
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold. Nope, I fell into the temptation, and would be suffering every moment. If I saw KP in person, that is, which is 1% of the time of our married life. Of course, I see here on telly, in the papers, in 'The Old Trouts Weekly' magazine, etc.
Temptation, in the hour of desperation, easy contemplation, but not for the Son of God.
Very pleasing read.
Thanks M.
Good read Orchi.
Thanks Jerry.
