Tune: St Gertrude
('Onward, Christian soldiers')
Nahum 3 v.1-4 {Old Testament prophet}
**********
Chorus
It Nahum's prophecy
Nineveh would be
Destroyed for wickedness
True this we confess
Woe to bloody city!
In you bloodshed be
Full of lies, robbery
And unceasing be
The prey that you capture
You held it for sure
Not turning to mercy
Now your end shall be - Chorus
Hear the sounds of battle
It be dreadful all
Noise of whips, rattling
Bring destruction's sting
Rattle of the jostling
Chariots do bring
Doom, horses galloping
Thunderous sounds ring - Chorus
Horsemen charge with swords bright
Spears glitter with light
Multitudes of slain be
Dead are cast out, see
There are corpses countless
Anguish and distress
Because of spiritual
Seductions they fall - Chorus
And too unfaithfulness
Land laid waste, no less
In Jonah's time before*
They repented sure
But turned back to violence
Idols, arrogance
Assyria's capital
Perished [is the] revival - Chorus
*********
* Jonah (c.760BC) was about 150 years before Nahum (c.612BC).
They both preached to Nineveh, the capital of Assyria.

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem with verses and Chorus in 6.5.6.5. metre. Dramatic - should it be 18+? Fido is unsure! Clip of David and Goliath from a movie.

A school-days ditty:
B (Bloody) in the Bible
B in the book
If you don't believe me
B have a look!
You should make this into an online game orchi. You and fido could while away hour after hour fighting the virtual battles and gain a virtual reality.
Miss Berles did a bit of Mullification.
An interesting and well-worded write Orchi - Assyria has a violent history
Thanks Fay.
Good write, Orchj.
Thanks Jerry.
Good write Orchi, are you sure it wasn't Hastings in 1066?
Andy
Thanks Gold. Hmm, could have been. Are we both in the clip?! Woz we there?
