The Smile You Left Me With

Accidental Poet

From that very first day

In September 1967

A day I’ll always remember

Your smile, a gift from heaven

For a boy of only ten

Love at first sight

Young were we

But a feeling so right

For it was you Sharon

Who stole my youthful heart

Of which I gladly gave

The love of my life from the start

After only four years

You had to move away

And here I would remain

But my heart with you would stay

Though sad at first

Your smile would heal me

My memories of you

The joy of my life you’d be

For over fifty years

A gift to me you’d give

Cherished within my heart

The smile you left me with

That smile will always be remembered - as will The Moody Blues.
