As the Lie Unfolds

Accidental Poet

Day in and day out

Many a lie is told

Some laced with deceit

Others in defense they hold

It might be a crook

Seeking to gain undeserved trust

But sealed within his reputation

Is many streaks of rust

If asked a question

Too personal for the truth

And no one’s business

Give a defensive untruth

As the lie unfolds

It may grow in size

One lie defends another

A snowball of lies

No matter the reason

In the end we’re all judged

By the truth within our hearts

And our life as it was

Good words AP and that last verse is so true.

"The trouble with lying is that you have to remember what they were and who you told them to!"
