She Found Herself.

Goldfinch60

She tells me many things,

Many things in her life.

I listen,

I listen as that is what I do,

Listen to people

As they talk of problems,

Problems in their lives.

And this day I listened,

Listened to the problems,

The problems she had,

Had in her life

Within a relationship.

She was being pulled down,

Pulled down away from her womanhood

Into a slave for the man,

The man she had married.

One day though she found a way

To conquer her insecurity,

She came back.

Her life was changed

And the woman she was came back.

Her strength of character returned,

She found herself once more.

Back into her world she came

Full of power and wisdom,

Knowing that she would not fall,

Not fall into that slavery again.

The woman she once was

Was back,

Stronger and more determined

To live her life

Under her own rules.

      Good write Gold.
meanwhile - did I find 'Me', 'Myself', or 'I'? (Do shut up Orchi. lol).

      • Goldfinch60

        Thanks Orchi.

You have found you, yourself and thy in your mind and in your singing, it's just that your singing drives others away and they want to lose you. LOL.

It's sad how people can be dominated by a relationship and lose what they are. I have seen it and been it in the past. It happens all too readily. At my stage in life I have decided not to risk it again and to carry on to my final years being the unfettered 'me'.

There's a good message in your words today and i hope very few readers find themselves in a restrictive relationship such as you describe.

Yes it is sad, this lady has been a friend (to Joyce as well) for nearly 40 years. She has found herself again.
Strangely one of my neighbours is currently going through the same thing with her partner, she is seeing a counsellor and also talking to me - it does seem to help her.

Watershed moments Andy. When a person is able to think and speak for themselves again rather than as part of a unit/marriage especially when their personality/character has been restrained.

She is definitely a lucky one and a strong one too. How many got lost and never came back. Nice writing.
