No Offence to Anyone

Accidental Poet

I’m no doctor

Or expert on diseases

Matter of fact

I’m no expert on anything

But of one thing I’m certain

God loves us all

I know some don’t believe in God

That he doesn’t really exist

They say, “Where’s the proof”?

My reply, I don’t need proof

My adoptive mother died from Alzheimer’s in 2008

My adoptive father at 95 has Alzheimer’s now

A life robbing disease it is

But by God’s design, I believe not

There are many things in this world

Many bad things

Of which I don’t know the origins

Bad things happen

I don’t know why, they just do

And when people don’t understand why

By nature, we want to blame a culprit

To ease our saddened hearts

Yes, Alzheimer’s will take my dad

But I refuse to throw God under the bus

I don’t believe God’s

In the business of taking life

He’s there to welcome life home

He’s there with love for all

When an Earthly body

Can do no more

God is there with open arms

With love for our loved ones

To keep them all safe

Until our own time comes

And we can join them there

God needs no defense

But even if I have to stand alone

I’ll have God at my side

I mean no offence to anyone

Whether or not you believe in God

You may believe as you wish

I’m not here to offend anyone

Even though our beliefs may differ

What we believe in

Is a choice we all make

And what I believe is

There’s someone or something

Bigger than us

Who loves us!

    A poignant write AP.
Anyone could just chirp out: 'God loves you'. It makes us feel sick (and we're sick of them too) if they are 'all OK' and life is cosy for them, maybe in a religious cliquey group.

There are believers and non-believers on this touchy subject Orchi. I;m not one to push my beliefs on anyone, but here I was just stating what I believe while acknowledging that I know others won't agree, and that's ok. We all have a choice in what we believe. Thanks for stopping by Orchi. ; ) AP

Well told, life is full of highs and lows and your beautiful words reflect this perfectly.

Thanks Andy. I just tried to state my own beliefs in a hopefully non-offensive way. Everyone is free to believe as they wish. ; ) AP

I was a christian, I have been a Chaplain and had the belief in the christian god. My wife had sung a praised the christian god all her life but when dementia started to take her no matter how much praying saved her and eventully she was taken - WHERE WAS THE christian GOD WHENSHE NEEDED IT.
I subsequently gave up the christian idea of god but I know that there is My God which is there for me. I now believe that organised religion is a farce and a pack of lies.
I believe Jesus existed but I look upon him as the first Hippie - make love, not war.

May your god go with you AP.

        Andy
