Chasing Poetic Words

Accidental Poet

Like a playful child

Following an elusive butterfly

In awe of its colorful wings

The dance has him hypnotized

As is the child in me

Enthralled with poetic words

Finding the rhyme

Of what my heart has heard

Of inspirations night and day

The metaphors held within

Relating to life lessons

Or simply thoughts on a whim

Words seemingly from thin air

Casually drifting by

As I weave them all together

Where they come from makes me sigh

I’m lost in wonderment

As they seem to know me

On my heartstrings they pull

Poetic words calling me

Like a Pied Piper

Escorted by songbirds

As I too enjoy the dance

Chasing poetic words

So true AP, those words seem to just float into our mind and demand to be written down to produce poems as good as this one is.
