BLACK COFFEE – WHERE’S THE CREAM ?

Andy Hunter

Endeavouring to keep you keen
You’re told you’re in a winning team
So everyday of every week
You stay until the job’s complete

But you never win – only lose
Some may help – others use
The rhetoric’s repetitive
Must give them all you have to give

The boss is fat – his workforce lean
Your coffee’s black – he’s got the cream
He’ll pay you just enough to live
He must remain competitive

Remaining focused yet confused
All compassion now refused
So who is right? and who is wrong?
Which side of the fence do you belong?

Believing everything’s OK
You’ve had some laughs along the way
Time to leave – perhaps you’ll stay
Tomorrow is another day

A statistic on a balance sheet
You cost too much – you’re on the street
You had it all – but now it’s gone
Is it your fault? or just a con?.

Black Coffee – where the cream?
An empty promise – a broken dream
Forget about the nine till five
You’ll work all hours just to survive

Brings back a bitter taste to me black coffee needs cream for sure ..
Do the minimum in situations like this look busy but do no more than your wage pays you. Be the person you see getting away with less stress than you getting their dedicated breaks and home on time .. that person whos thought more of .

You are spot on my friend ☺️. Many times the busiest and most overworked person often also happened to be one of the lowest paid. Whilst the hierarchy spent time looking for something to criticize.

Oh come on Andy - never heard of the trickle down effect? It will happen sometime......

Some bosses haven't a care about their employees and are just doing things to make sure that there castles in the air remain sound.

I do prefer my coffee without cream rather than without milk. LOL

To be honest, I not a fan of dairy products. Couldn't think up a metaphor that worked for me.,😃

      Indeed!
'In-fact, oft - we've deluded ourselves into believing
we prefer our coffee's: without cream....
such be that malevolent grip, they've implanted
in our innate ability, for cognitive functionality...
      may freedom reign: we sing
in the very words, they scripted...'
