Of what is faith?
Something of which to believe in
Cause I believe it to be there
Not just what I imagine
Whether or not
Seen with my eyes
Or touched by hand
My heart can sense its size
My inner being
Dictates my own truth
Some call it a “gut feeling”
Usually I feel it too
In my heart and soul
I’ll feel either wrong or right
Directing my deep-down faith
To see the truth in light
Not just from teachings
But of an inner voice
Telling me that which feels real
And my faith has a choice
Of anything I believe in
Or I believe not
Ask myself why
In the mirror the answer I got
Of many things
I’m a faithful man
But I decide only for me
And there I’ll make my stand

an intriguingly crafted question so well poemed ...
... I have a feeling that many if not most folk will have asked the same thing
... I personally follow a Buddhist path and am generally contented with my lot ...
Neville
Thank you so much N. Much appreciated as always. ; )
Faith is a part of our make up and needs no church, or finery of robes, or money making power organisations (e.g. the R.C. church) to support it.
My poem was not written with any religion as inspiration. It's about having faith in oneself.
Good write AP.
Thanks Orchi. ; )
Fine, wise words AP, faith within oneself is so important in our lives.
Andy
Thanks Andy. As always I appreciate your viewpoint and compliments. ; )
what is Faith
but the actualisation: of hope,
and what is Hope
but our refusal to surrender
to all the abundance of dreary
that threatens
to swallow us: whole...
the Important part
is exercising the humility: in acceptance
that there May be
more than one representation of Faith
and allowing for the diversity
in which people choose to express
and cement, their interpretation of Hope...
it is Great we affirm what is important to us
in the I's and Me's and My's - observations
we so proudly, share
but let us evolve, to a world
where 'We': underlines all of our empathy
and opens paths of inclusivity and unity...!
Couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks LB. ; )
