The Mystery of Love

Accidental Poet

When love calls your name

It’s human nature for your heart to respond

For the call of love is mysterious

Like the beckoning of the Pied Piper’s song

There has to be a reason

Why love has called to me

Some hidden meaning

Perhaps faith in love I need to see

I fell in love while just a young boy

Caught off guard, she stole my heart

Just one look and I couldn’t resist

Sharon, you had me from the start

Was it your beautiful eyes?

The color and shape of your hair?

Or your mid-western drawl?

And of your magnetic smile I stare

I remember everything else a blur

And Sharon, only you in sight

How I longed to hold you

Under tranquil moon and starlight

And so, of the mystery of love

I think there’s more here than meets the eye

For the answers I’ll invest my heart

No matter the outcome of you and I

Cause I’ll always love you

Even if your heart smiles not for me

Rest assured my heart will smile

Knowing that your heart is happy
