I’m known as Accidental Poet
AKA AP
I’ve been told it’s by no accident
That a poet I came to be
The accident in question
A mistake of my own
As writing poetry
Nothing I’d ever known
It began as therapeutic
To deal with family loss
My birthmother’s passing
Five years earlier I lost
And so, it began
The pulling on my heart
My Muse got my attention
Though there from the start
Forty-three years
Of emotions on hold
Suddenly the floodgates opened
The words began to flow
Three years later
I was still writing
Gravitated towards the rhyme
Now so exciting
I was writing poetry
No one more surprised than I
I couldn’t believe what I saw
Right there before my eyes
Naah, I’m not a poet
Poets are talented writers
All I’m talented at is
A #2 pencil biter
But eventually I gave in
The evidence from my own pen
A poet I must be
And all along I’ve been
The accident in question
I didn’t believe I was a poet
So, guess what
Now I know it

AP you're indeed one of our poets. We enjoy your poems and look forward to your creations. Be blessed my brother and keep on producing your beautiful poems.
1,000 thank yous rrod. I appreciate all my readers so much. No better feeling in writing poetry than knowing your peers look upon your work as being a positive inspiration. ; )
we all have our own reason or reasons for writing whether poetry, prose, novels or notes .. and whether on the back of beermats, or them little yellow sticky stubbit paper pads .. it seems writings for life not just one of them passing fads ...
I note your inspiration tho was sadly bitter sweet AP ...
Write on good sir for both yourself, and for them and me .... 🙂
Thank you N for reading and your compliment, and especially for noting the sad inspiration. It happens to everyone.
We all have within us, a poet, a writer, a musician, an artist, and for most of us, it takes a love, a loss, a tragedy or an event, our own lightening bolt to get the creation flowing. Yours, though a tragedy, has created a poet.
Yes, all poets have a spark that ignited the fire of words inside them. As sad as it is to be in an emotional state, I think that is where we seem to connect with our inner muse the most. When the passion flows, so does the pen. ; )
Sounds like the same way I got into poetry AP, and still we write.
Andy
Once bitten. forever written. ; )
above all else a poet who publishes, needs a thick, thick skin. Cheers
Thank for the read and comment. ; )
Now I know #2 pencil is your secret weapon to write wonderful poem. A lovely read.
No, a #2 pencil is just a #2 pencil. My secret weapon is my Muse who knows more about me than I know myself. Thanks for the read and comment m&m. ; )
Intense emotions certainly do inspire poetry! How wonderful to have the ability to express yourself this way! It's a gift for sure 💕
Thank you Goddess, yes I believe our best writings come from our deepest feelings. ; )
