Will you all be there?
The club nights will be back
But you must have a passport,
A passport to show two jabs.
Well we can form a club
As all of us over sixty five
Have had the double jab.
So get ready Club owners
For us oldies.
Put the Double Diamond
And the Watneys on the tap,
Play the Beatles and Stones,
Provide us with Sanatogen not hash,
Feed us chicken in a basket.
You must have defibs available
And good first aiders,
And we will be there,
Dancing and singing
Well into the night,
Up to our bedtime
Of ten thirty pm.
Come on all,
Join me at the night club.

Although I whole heartedly disagree with the no jab no entry fascism I really enjoyed the poem. Chicken in a basket! Lol
Chicken in a basket was the in thing in many venues in the last century!

Yep, let's ditch the carpet slippers and pipe (though that's bad for us anyway, the pipe). Let's go wild, stay past our bedtime a quarter of a hour (gasp, whatever next?) and rave - to 'proper songs' though, like this one.
Come on then Orchi - the first round is on you - no water in my Sanatogen !!
Andy
Thanks Gold. lol.
talk about memories & oldies ... pot calling the kettle .. golden oldies indeed ... a little gem first thing works wonders sir .. but then so does a Double Diamond ... 🙂
Yes, back in the day. My first pint in a pub was a pint of Courage Tavern Keg 'its what your right arms for'.

Gahh do even oldies really go to night clubs? Or this is just your fantastic rocking imagination? I was actually impressed when my American friend in his late forties told me he never went to night clubs. But this poem is jaunty fun nevertheless. Kudos!!
Plz do read and comment my newest poem too.
Thank you, just a bit of fun created from memories.

Days of youth, a lot of fun
In my time, a lot was done
Now enjoy doing more BBQ’s
Let me throw one on fire for you
Hop in the car, get on a plane
Come by, for music n games
Thanks for lightening the mood
What time is the BBQ Suresh - I'll be there.

Don't like your taste in beer, mate -Courage man meself.....
My first pint in a pub was Courage Tavern and the pub that I went in my youth was a Courage pub where I drank Courage mild occasionally, you know four pints a night on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday lunchtime and evening and Sunday lunchtime.
My favourite beer is now Pigs Ear brewed by Uley Brewery in Gloucestershire.

Andy, Courage Director\'s was mine for years, midway through my beer drinking career. Though a very early member of CAMRA ( think I may still have their pin around somewhere), I Remember any mention of Watney's Red Barrel and you were a pariah! Well it did lead to some atrophy of the taste buds, as it had about a much real taste as Foster's here. Now mostly a modest wine drinker (under four units with evening meal). When mid summer I indulge in a hoppy glass, It's from some boutique brewer of which there are quite a number in Aussie.
PS Great little entry Nostalgia rules!
Ready to join you in the club Rightly said only upto 10.30pm Refreshing poem
Any time you ae available tkkkk.

Great poem Andy.
Loved Petula Clark. Was struck by the innocence of the video. Great write.
I’d do the twist but afraid I’d through out my back or hip. 🕺🏼🧑🏼🦽
Thanks John.
Learnt the twist with my next door neighbour when it first came out, I am still in touch with her after all these years.
