Question

M.E.M.

I’ve been meaning to ask,

I mean—

Is it okay if I—

Never mind.

I don’t want to know what you might say

to the question I am really wanting to ask

It won’t be pretty,

the answer you give.

I know,

But still.

I just want to know

You can just say

yes or no,

What would you say if I asked—

Never mind.

There is no other way to phrase it

I need to know the answer

But I might be crushed

Anyway, I’ll ask

Never mind.

Ah, yes. Most of my conversations begin or end like this. I do not know if I should thank you for writing this, but I will thank you for providing me with a delightful read.

lol. I've now recovered from some kind of brain fever induced by your piece.
You have just activated a very vague memory (it was, after all a very long time ago) when I may have had a mindset something like that....but I (shortly after and now) press on remorseless........

This can happen so often in our lives but we still need to ask that question sometime.
