Happy Birthday to Carl Yastrzemski
August 22, 1939
"Yaz"
The man at the plate
Wearing the Red Sox uniform
On the back, a red number 8
Carl Yastrzemski is his name
Baseball is his life and love
He’s in Cooperstown’s “Hall of Fame”
As he swings his bat with pizzazz
The fans come to their feet to cheer
He’s the man they call “Yaz”
And base runners better watch out
From left field to home plate
He’ll throw you out
Just as Ted Williams made his mark
Yaz will live forever
In the history of Fenway Park
Now players will come and go
But not many will be
A “Triple Crown” hero
The “Green Monster” will always be his friend
Left field will never be the same
Without Yaz there to defend

A fine USA write AP.
Here in the UK I recall Joe Bloggs, a proverbial 'anyone'. You know him the U.S.?! lol.
We had a Wade Boggs on the Boston Red Sox. Maybe cousins Orchi. 😎
YES! Love the Sox!
Thank you Coyote. I became a Red Sox fan in 1967, the Impossible Dream" season. I'll never forget that year. My only regret is that Carl Yastrzemski never got a World Series ring while he played for the Sox.
and he will always be because of people like you that remembers
Carl Yastrzemski and Bobby Orr were always my favorite sports figures. Thanks Ron.
you`re welcome
A wonderful tribute to a great ball player. My favorite was Cal Ripken . I lived in the same town as he did in the 60's . My twin brother has all kinds of collector cards . In storage . in a couple of building around his place and in all his closets .He spends hour upon hour looking at the . All sports .I believe his favorite is baseball. I use to collect until I sold a binder of cards worth a couple hundred dollars by mistake for 20 dollars at a flea market. I did get a good felling knowing that they would go to a 8 year old kid for his birthday. After that day I sold my whole collection . I belive it was the Donruss cards that had a puzzle of Carl Yastrzemski. AP. If he could read your tribute he would be proud.
I'd love for him to read this page. Carl Yastrzemski has always been one of my biggest idols. That's amazing of all the baseball cards you had. I believe I had some, but it was so long ago, don't know if I had any valuable ones. If we knew then what we know now. Thanks for stopping by ep and your compliment. 😉
You're welcome. Thank you for sharing.
Have a good week.
