Hopeful Harvest

Tune: Golden Sheaves

('To thee, O Lord, our hearts we raise')

Psalm 65 v.9-13

*********

Last verse: Adapted with permission of Michael Edwards

from poem 'Construct'.

---------

The LORD visits the earth, ensures

It receives plenty waters

And greatly He does enrich it

And satisfies it each whit

From the river of God it flows

It be full, no shortage knows

And He makes produce for to grow

Blessings on His land below

He provides grain to us sustain

His harvest graces seen plain

And waters hill and vale and field

They each prosperity yield

If heavy rain or showers light

Or sunshine bright to the sight

He crowns the year with His goodness

With His favour does us bless

The waters fall on the pastures

And too on the wilderness

The little hills rejoice, they know

Refreshment from the LORD so

The pastures, they with flocks are clothed

And valleys also bestowed

With grain, they shout for joy and sing

Abundance here, everything

The verdant rolling lands abut

Boundaries of man's construct

The mills and manufactories

Furnaces and potteries

As the steel stone, and brick degrade

Sediment and soot invade

The verdant rolling lands abut

Boundaries of man's construct

Thanks Gold. If only I was helping in the Harvest (Sept/Oct) in 1066, I would not have turned up at the Battle and mucked it all up! I had a day off from harvesting though, and did turn up. Doh!

Your god also visits earth with death through floods, famine, birth defects etc etc etc... Oh praise be from you blinkered bewildered.

Stop Press: Extra last verse added, while I was in tune. Since when have I ever been in tune, if I start to sing?! lol.
