Life’s highways long or short
Back roads, side roads
All of them to help you
Decipher your life’s code
You played baseball
Served your time in the military
Graduated from Colby College
In search of your beneficiary
With your childhood sweetheart
You happily tied the knot
So delighted were you
The beautiful prize you got
Now a mother and father to be
A family to support
Education your expertise
No option to come up short
Fast forward fifty years
Your wife surrenders to Alzheimer’s
Thirteen years later
Your fate the same reminder
We know here is not
Where you want to be
Rest assured it won’t be much longer
To a Heavenly place you’ll be
For ninety-five years
You’ve lived a full life
A proud daughter and son
And loving wife
Soon you’ll be going home
But I’m not saying good-bye
I’ll just say, “See ya later”
And you’ll know the reason why
Letting go
Never easy to do
But we’ll smile with love
Letting go of you

Thanks LB, always appreciate your reading and comments. 😉
Good write AP.
I was horrible. I said 'Gentlemen? What gentlemen? There ain't none on here!' heehee.
Wonderful emotive words AP, he will always be with you, as mine is in mine.
Andy
Thanks Andy. He's not gone yet, but he wants to be. My mother past in 2008 and all his friends are gone. He's very depressed. I feel bad, but I know it's all just part of the process.
