A Bright Day in September

Accidental Poet

It was a day in his boyhood

A fine day to remember

A boy learning of love

A bright day in September

Never before had he seen

A smile so sweet

To give his young heart

More reason to beat

Her eyes of mystery

Pulling him through love’s door

Her song in his heart

For evermore

Old and grey now

He thinks back long ago

The distant past

Doesn’t seem quite so

Like just yesterday

He sees her there

The eyes he adores

The smile she wears

The day a memory began

A day he’ll always remember

When his life changed

 A bright day in September
