Tune: Woodlands
('Tell out my soul')
Acts 2 v.42-47
*********
The early church continued steadfastly
In the apostles doctrine, teaching, see
And fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayers
Godly fear came on each soul, sharing cares
And many signs and wonders were done by
The apostles, they knew God's presence nigh
And all that believed were there together
Had all things in common, sisters, brothers
For they did sell their goods and possessions
And shared them out as they had need, each one
They continued daily, all in one mind
A fellowship strong we would of them find
They met in temple. and they did break bread*
From house to house, were in communion fed
They ate their food with gladness, singleness
Of heart, knowing the LORD He did them bless
They praised God, had favour with all people
And more daily did come to hear His call
He added to the church who saved would be
His people, in His name His family
--------
* This is Communion. It may also mean eating meals together.

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 10.10.10.10. metre. Where are we today with churches? There are many good places around, I believe, though I rant about money matters in one place. Verse 3 says they sold (gave), not always money appeals (receiving). Those those who they gave to obviously received, but were in genuine need.

The early church Orchidee was guilty of deciding WHICH of the many gospels suited their needs to be included in the bible, several gnostic gospels of the disciples were not included because they did not suit the early churches purposes. You really ought to educate yourself upon who and why the scriptures you believe in were manipulated by churchmen to suit their purposes. It is all available information if only you look for it.
Thanks dusk.
the sentiment is very humanistic ..
my daughter is getting married in a Church next May .. they are certainly gonna make some money back out of me I fear .....................but hey, if it goes to a good cause, I am not going to grumble too much ....................... N
Thanks Neville.
But I mostly mean extremes - an appeal for ANOTHER a million quid! Pop that cheque in the post to me, and I'll pass it on to 'em! Doh!
I might not mind so much, but it's only to rebuild a 'modern' building - not yet 60 years old!
One can't even see the building properly. It's set back from the main road. Grrr!! And Woof! says Fido.
Good one Orchi
Well that was deep for me
Thanks S.
It need not be too deep - all about loving, caring, sharing, etc, in the church - well, and outside of it too.
Sure it is
Your the messenger of my God
I call him my God
Maybe offensive to others
But he resides in me and I reside in him
So I don’t know how to separate him
Good one Orchi.
Thank Gold. Pop cheque in the post for me, will ya, and I'll pass it on to them. I can't afford to support Branson now even. Doh!
