They all turned up to see it,
The Nativity Play with live animals.
It started well,
The camels bringing the kings
With their gold frankincense and myrrh,
But then it became a pantomime.
One of the camels escaped,
It was chased by the police
But they could not catch it.
The camel went onto a golf course.
The police could not drive over it
So they took a golf trolley.
What a wonderful sight to see,
The trolley chasing the camel
Over the course,
But not on the greens,
That was definitely not allowed.
But the camel was the winner,
He beat the police by three shots
With two holes to play.

- Comment from author about the poem: Residents in the Kansas City, Kansas, area probably learned why the three wise men preferred transportation by camel after one fled a Nativity scene over the weekend. Officers and animal control spent all of Sunday trying to wrangle the runaway camel, which made its escape Saturday night, the Bonner Spring Police Department said. The camel was part of a live drive-thru Nativity display at the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame. At one point, the camel ran around a golf course, sparking a golf-cart pursuit in which officers "learned camels can run 40 mph," the police department said. By the time the wandering camel was caught, it had taken a stroll down the highway "As what can only be described as a scene from another cop movie, ACO Anthony bailed out of her vehicle and went in foot pursuit on Nettleton where it was safely 'taken into custody' by lasso!" police said on Facebook. "Why is lassoing not taught in schools!" "The camel was reunited with its owners and will go back to doing camel things," police said in another Facebook post.

Andy, as I'm not a Facebook devotee (what would be the correct terminology - 'on Facebook ' , 'with Facebook'?), I can only give you my profound thanks .... a laugh a minute.
'On Facebook' works for me.
Great to get you laughing Dave, my work is done.
Andy

Animals and children, one must never combine the two. Must admit, I'm with the camel, bloody screaming kids. Think you've aced this.
Thank you Paul, you may be right.

Love this camel levity Andy! Jay and I once chase a Moose that was heading for the highway and managed to get him to turn in another direction. But a camel No.... I think I read once that they tried to use camels in the US West at one point but for one reason or another that didn't work out.
Thank you Lorna. The most I have had to move away was some sheep that a shepherd was moving on the Yorkshire Dales when Joyce and I used to walk them, some of the flock was coming our way and I manged to get them to go the right way.
Andy
Cor blimey I would love to see a film of that.... my minds eye sees the closing piece of the Benny Hill show complete with music, the camel being hotly pursued by the Keystone Cops.
Thanks for recounting that ridiculous scene and giving me a huge grin.
So would I like to see a film of that and I am glad I made you grin.
Andy
LMFAO! Brilliant🤣
Thank you Coyote, much appreciated.
