That day has come once more,
That day he was born
And brought so much joy,
So much joy into my life.
He blows his horn
And the melodious sound
Reaches me in mind and heart.
So many problems in his life,
So full of drugs,
Yet his music never suffered.
His music so important,
So important to me.
So once more as I listen,
Listen to his music,
I wish him Happy Birthday,
Happy Birthday Chet.

- Comment from author about the poem: This is a repeat of a poem I put on here this day last year. Chet Baker is my favourite jazz trumpeter, I have all his albums and today he will be playing for me all day. Chet Baker Born 23rd December 1929, died 13th May 1988. The music I have put on is the whole album 'Late Night Jazz' - enjoy.

far too may people hold far too many negative assumptions about those who for whatever reason become addicted to this or that .. no one truly knows another's motives, or potentials .... Happy & positively recalled here ............. N
Thank you Neville, I have read his autobiography and his drug taking did not cause him to harm other people and it never stopped him playing his trumpet or singing.

Good write Gold.
Thanks Orchi.
Thanks for this great sound of Chet dear Andy -- Brilliant artist and so talented - - love the cool he produced from that trumpet.
Thank you Fay, he was at the birth of cool.

Link didnt work, plugged in headphones and went direct to youtube for it..... Chet mellow as ever
I'm a 50's jazz lover but with Chet i find his later years more rewarding especially his rusty old voice singing..... so soulful.
I too love the 50's jazz but Chet brought so much 'cool' through to the 80's as well.

R.I.P.
a worthy Poetic tribute
to a deserving musical Artist;
legacy, that's the true measure
not our mistakes or peaks;
that connection we're able to make
between a handful, many
or a million, little...
(a great read, thanks Andy
I'll be sure to add his songs
to my playlist this weekend)
Thank you Mek, he is a great musician.

Who in life doesn’t have a few grey streaks
Yet why these streaks cover the white we did
Why people judge others ? I am kind of sad about it
This is a very sincere dedication to a great musician
You did justice dear Andy
Thank you spilleronsheet, much appreciated.
Andy
I'm about to sit back and enjoy - thanks for posting it Andy.
Enjoy Michael, enjoy.
