A Long Life

Accidental Poet

Day by day

We helped you to hold onto life

Knowing every day is a struggle

 Each day its own strife

Less than five years

From one hundred years old

Seen from that perspective

Gives an alternate hold

I never imagined

I’d be watching you die

Don’t know I can hold back the tears

But I’ll try

That morning we got the news

But your journeys not over

As you enter the gates to Heaven

Above us your spirit will hover

We’re saddened in grief

But joyous in remembering

For the life you lived

We’re forever embracing

Our Christmas gift to you

Was to let you go

To where there is no pain

Where only love may flow

We’ll live on

Missing you

With love and respect

We’ll remember you too

A long life

1926 to 2021

A hero in our eyes

In our hearts still you run

A sensitive write AP, with balancing expressions of grieving. Thinking of you. 🙂

Someone passed away aged 100. But difficult. He made his spouse care for him for years and years. Would not have outside help. Thankfully she was a robust spouse, and gave him 'what-for' in a school ma'am way!
