Silly Boy

Valerie

What about me seems so interesting?

I wish I could tell you

how badly I want to know

how you perceive me.

You humor me, silly boy.

Your smile can make my day

and that makes me sick.

Is this what joy feels like?

An endless succession

of butterflies in my stomach?

I wish you treated me badly

so I wouldn't feel so disgusting

admitting that you are the only thing

crossing my mind.

Perfect boy;

Perfect man.

What do you see

in a girl so broken?

You make me forget

how to write

my dumb poetry.
