Back Then.
Intoxicated with evocative love,
heady with rapture,
exhilaration captured their every
need of sensation
back then.
Fermented in thrills they became
effervescently fueled,
felt mercurial bliss galvanized to
an exciting level
back then.
Fired by euphoria their pleasure
ordered desire as time
stood still and gratified every
wish for satisfaction
back then.
Enchanted by halcyon hours
volcanic abandon roused
they found romance in ecstatic
ashes of fantasy
back then.

I LOVE THE WAY THE REPETITION OF 'BACK THEN' BRINGS IT ALL BACK TO REALITY - HOW THE MAGIC HAS WANED...VERY MOVING
Pleased you enjoyed the repetitive duo of "back then" Keith - - I hoped it would put emphasis on the heat of reality - back when the magic was thriving - back then.
'Intoxicated
with evocative love,
heady
with rapture, exhilaration
captured
their every need of sensation
back then.
Fermented
in thrills: they became...'
(I just can't help
feeling like these words
encapsulate
that 'blossoming of romance', sensation
so acutely)
what a Brilliant verse, dear Fay
another beautifully worded
'modern Ode': to Love!
thank you
You nail the true message so easily L.B, as I tried spelling it out as verbosely as I was able. Thanking you muchly and more.
ah thems were the days my friend, back then ..................................... x
Yes my dear Nev. - thems were the times back then when love flamed without lighting candles mon ami........... x
Melancholic tides
sweep slowly
as memory recalls
back then.
And it's a big tick from me.
My sincere thanks for that welcome tick dear poet-friend - methinks back then we thought such heat would last forever .
A lovely chemistry with feelings of regret
The words “back then” itself kept me hooked
Loved these lines inked so intelligently
“Fermented in thrills they became
effervescently fueled,
felt mercurial bliss galvanized to
an exciting level
back then.”
You picked out the lines I thought sounded the best in this mournful lament of loving back them - thanks a load spills and so pleased you enjoyed my take on an ode.
I love this.
Back then all was wonderful, as are your words Fay.
