Every Now and Then

Rocky Lagou

Life has been a bummer

since you left back in March

Now it’s summer

As I recollect all the memories that we left in this city

I garner what I can

For what the future holds - is out of my hands

I remember your presence

I remember your presence so much

almost as if I could touch

your tender, flower-blooming, silky April hands

They say Spring is the season of Love

is the season of Growth

is the season of – hope.

But what if I don’t want it to play out like the tales they wrote?

I just want the intimacy and sincerity of you,

And that of which only you can bring -

So, here I am

On this day

Stuck in the burden of what some may say:

“yearning”

Missing you, sensing you, loving you...again

And hoping I’ll be able to feel your fluorescence

Every now and then.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I believe this is the most "romantic" piece I've written. I know people are obsessed with a good love poem so I decided to give my own take on it, but of course with my own spin on the classic "love story." It focuses more on the aftermath of a relationship and I deliberately left out how it got to this point (so you can interpret it the way you feel most fitting.) The lover is currently figuring out how to continue with life after the absence of their partner and is now visited by their "presence" frequently. Nature is prominent in this piece and I also play with synesthesia a little towards the end. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this one, it's definitely one of my most dearest poems. 💖

Some girls just set the bar, and if that bar is set too high, it's really hard to replace them. Still, you wish her well and get back into the game.

Thanks for "faving!!!" I appreciate your feedback. Also, it's true. Love can be a setback after a bad experience with a lover and it's hard at times to find the force to go back to the "sea" and go "looking for fishes." But after awhile one has to learn to heal and move on. Stay safe! 👍💖

Love is so powerful in its many forms and when it is lost it is so awful. I do hope that love can be found again.
