How Do They Do It?

Rozina

How do they do it?

Those authors so fine

Writing their crime stories

Line after line

From start to the end

Their writings so great

Yet I have been slogging

From '01 to '18

I tried isolation

It didn't work out

All I wanted to do

Was to get out and shout

I tried with some music

Soft in the background

But it made me dance

Around and around

Coffee didn't work

And neither did tea

I've never tried this

But how about Hennessy?

If alone on an island

I might start my blockbuster

But I could go loony

Yes, faster and faster

Oh well, I'll give it a rest

And restart tomorrow

Now on with the TV

The MasterChef series I follow.

My dream is to write a medical whodunnit. A blockbuster, a page turner, a 'cannot put down book until the last page is read'. This is my dream.....

A great choice of subject because I'm pretty sure many of us on MPS would share the thoughts you express here. I like the humour woven into this. A very entertaining and pleasing read for me.

    Thank you.

I'm just going down the ghostwriter route myself. In saying that, I'm still waiting for him or her to appear.

    • Rozina

      Haha hopefully soon.

a fun read, and the voiced frustrations are so relatable
      thanks for sharing, dear poet
      (if you're interested
what genuinely helps me is to reduce my targets
so instead of writing a whole novel
I'll focus on coming up with a character
      write out her/his or other
details, down to their eyelash length
then, try and and write a page of them doing something related to the kinda story I want to tell
      and then rinse-n-repeat
it may only be a lengthier poem or short story
      I end up with
but it's a good way to motivate yourself
      into writing something longer
      at a different time..

Thank you. This is good advice.

Great poem! All us writers dream of writing that "magnum opus" that really gets a reader to think.๐Ÿ‘

          Thank you.

I am sure that your dream will come to fruition Rozina, we all have a book inside of us.

Great dream! But what a hard one! Not only have to write well but have to come up with tricky twisty clever plots - I'll read it when you're ready!

            • Rozina

Thank you. You will have to wait a long timeโ€ฆ.

Make your dream your mission Rozina. To quote the Blues Brothers,"I'm on a mission from God"๐ŸŒฉ๐ŸŒžโœŒ๏ธ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ•Š๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

Maybe we should form a cult after all, I have the very same ambition .. I am eleven chapters in already but it has taken me years to get there .. it has a very psychiatric orientated flavour ................. smashing bit of self revelation again Roz thank you .... ๐Ÿ™‚

              • Rozina

Thank you for the encouragement. 11 chapters - thatโ€™s great. Youโ€™ve started so you need to find that motivation to do 1 page a day or 1 paragraph a day and keep moving. Iโ€™m now enjoying poetry so Iโ€™ll delay my blockbuster a bit more!
