LIMERICK 79

Michael Edwards

A working class guy called Paul

did not like his background at all

but I’m telling you

there are benefits too

and Paul, bless his heart, claimed them all.

I see this from this angle - Is it wrong, even scandalous, that many still don't know of benefits they can claim? There's 'heat or eat' for example, and not just elderly people.
Also, not only homeless people have the need to use Food Banks.
Miss Berles claimed all the entitlement of sylla-berles for us?

    • Michael Edwards

Putting the joke aside - yes it is scandalous - as for sylables Miss B has applied for a Government grant. Grant Shapps is visiting her tomorrow.

      • orchidee

She needs millions of pounds to buy all those berles.

I'm voting with orchi - again! Dunno what's happening here...
Orchi - you are exhibiting the wisdom of age, not something every ancient manages. Bless you (a secular blessing of course 😊)

Never worked out what the squares mean....
Water colour great - makes me feel all nostalgic (as your studies mostly do).

He aspired to become an MP
which he achieved with the greatest of glee
            bereft of all malice
he was called to the palace
before her majestyhe took to his knee

His knighthood really made Sir Paul
The finest Lord of them all
            resplendent in ermine
            commoners were now vermin
mere servants at his beck and call

I can't resist joining in with your limericks. Nice one.

Love your additions - keep 'em coming. I've just written 10 of them and will post them over the next week or so.

              lmao!
              this made my morning Michael..
loved the painting as well, so clean
              brush strokes, like poetry
              so effortlessly accessible
              just a joy, thank you!

              • Michael Edwards

Thank you LB - praise indeed and so much appreciated.

Lighthearted in spite of it all.... beautiful landscape Michael - hope your wife is well

                • Michael Edwards

Yes just light hearted. Thanks yes Jeanne is okay - suffering tiredness, stomach cramps and the inevitable bouts of depression but obverall bearing up. Next scan at the end of the month - always an anxious time. And how about you - always in our thoughts.

                  • Lorna

Am I? Well even if not that's nice to hear....... I have created my own little world which is probably not everyone's solution but it seems to work most of the time if it is a little other worldly. Wish I could paint. My sister does and she is getting better and better (water colors). I've shown her your work and she loves it.

                    • Michael Edwards

Thanks Lorna and your own world is often a good place to be - I've been painting another commision today and when painting it takes away completely from all my anxiety and worries for my dear Jeanne - I do feel a little selfish but Jeanne encourages me and somehow it also helps her - oh and tell sis she has good taste 😁😁

                      • Lorna

There is NOTHING so stressful as feeling another's pain so be good to yourself.

                      • Rozina

Missed this earlier. Good one. And lovely artwork.
