Deliverance Dawnings

Tune: Buckland

('Loving Shepherd of thy sheep')

Psalm 18 v.1-3

********

You, O Lord, are my strength true

I trust whole-hearted in you

You my rock and my fortress

You come to my aid and bless

Yes, you are my God, my strength

Have helped me soon and at length

You my buckler, my shield sure

Shall defend me evermore

You, strength of my salvation

You rescue from each nation

You my high tower, stronghold

Keep me safe within your fold

I will call upon the Lord

Trusting in His living word

He is worthy to be praised

Saved by you, I am amazed

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 7.7.7.7. format (i.e. syllables per line) I should call poems 'format' really, and not 'metre'. Metre has more to do with stressed and unstressed syllables.
