At One With Nature Once More.

Goldfinch60

Once more I step out onto the lawn,

Croquet mallet in my hand.

It had been a few weeks since I played,

The weather was so bad

The lawns needed protecting,

But came the day when work was done

And we prepared the lawns

For a new time to play,

And here I was hitting balls once more.

The wind was blowing hard

But it was dry.

The balls sailed across the lawn

Bringing joy to us all.

And then I stopped,

Stopped and looked around,

The beauty of Nature all around.

The green hills on the horizon,

The trees swaying all around the meadow.

The vast meadow of which we are part.

It was so wonderful to be at one,

At one with Nature once more.

Thank you yellowrose, Nature is so wonderful but will win any arguments it has with us.

You describe so well the way to see nature and its gifts dear Andy - - to take each day at a time and look around and find beauty gives such a lift . Thank you for sharing it.

Thank you for your kind words Fay, much appreciated.

Ahh, ye English stiff upper lip. Can ye no play in the wild weather, hard, (foolhardy?), battling ye elements, soldiering on?!
A comment from Fido's Scottish cousin there (sort of), McFido! lol.

Yes I have played in rain, wind and snow but the wet weather was so prolific (you may have to look up that word) that the lawns were suffering when we played on them so we closed them to sae them from being damaged any more.

*Gets out dictionary for prolific'*. That sounds Scottish too - 'we closed them to sae them....' typo?! lol.

            braver man than me
I kept my link to Nature
a little distant, this last week
just like the wise birds, that hid..
(glad you're back with mallet in-hand
hope those balls, stay true for you)
            a fun read, thanks Andy

A super feel good write - I went for a walk in a local Botanic Garden and was amazed by the amount of flowers showing their faces - so uplifting.

              • Goldfinch60

Thank you Michael, yes it is amazing how many flowers are showing themselves as you walk around the countryside.

Nature at its best behaviour after the havoc. Lovely to be at peace for a while. Very nice lines.

                  Andy,

So glad you were able to play croquet. I know how much you enjoy the game. We’ve been weathering some bad weather as well.
