A Message to: Moscow, Russia, 103132

AuburnScribbler

Although, I don’t live here

I would like to make a complaint,

about your current occupier,

another master on how to restraint,

where he has truly learned,

to recycle certain errors,

via Stalin’s iron curtain,

and Ivan’s reign of terror.

With these “wisdoms” whirring,

he continues to attack,

by poisons and by guns,

just put them all in the sack,

“let’s bring back an empire”,

he says, to author more pain,

he says “I won’t”, but he’s on his way,

to the shivering Ukraine.

His macho-man wry smile,

makes him a poster child,

endured by the modern man,

that makes the world go wild,

apparently, he’s “the best”,

that Russia has got,

there are too many like him,

who use their power, to rot.

I’ve seen the photos,

him shirtless, on horseback,

oozing all the qualities,

of a guy, who only smacks,

where no arguments exist,

it has to be his way,

even if that means,

no one sees another day.

I’m not rooting for Putin,

all he wants to do is kill,

until he has his members club,

that will swallow down his pill,

it’s this, that despairs me,

I need to know, if he’s sorry,

if not, then those voted in,

will always give birth to worry.

You used to house the Greats,

where did it all go wrong?

Perhaps, it’s when “you” said

“Shostakovich, you can’t play that song!”

Surely, enough is enough,

it’s time to get it right,

not just for you, but for all of us,

let’s turn the dark; in to the bright.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Bit of a controversial one this one, but it’s a poem I felt compelled to write. It’s incredibly hard to ignore the headline of Russia’s invasion into Ukraine, as it could lead to a more worldwide-spread conflict. So, I thought I would write an allegorical poetic message, to a particular address, The Kremlin, about what I think about it’s current occupier. Accompanying the poem is a piece of clipart from the greatly named RiseAboveDesign, who are featured on iStock, depicting a ripped Russian flag. I think so many flags; in the western world in particular, are metaphorically ripped, because of the corruption mankind both makes, when elected, and allows, via nonchalant voting. I know that in previous poems, that I’ve been harping on about “improving the situation”, but seeing this particular horror story unfold in the News, tells me, that humanity really does need to re-prioritise, because if we don’t, we are already, our very own four horsemen! I hope that you enjoy the poem, may a change for the better be seen, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

    It’s sad
    That peace is so expensive
    And war so cheap
Wish greed could take a vacation

Thanks for the read spilleronsheet, and your succinctly poignant poetic response, I wholeheartedly agree with.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well!

Good words Ben, it is such a shame that people like Putin ever existed.

      Andy

Thanks for the read Andy, and yes, career tyrants like Putin, over time become mistakes we should all learn from, but repeated mistakes, such as dictatorships, are brought on by clumsy voting, or the multitude easily assuming the roles of sheep.

The only way we can get rid of "guys" like him, is to stop giving people like him, the constitutional right to have power.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well!

A horrible morning. Waiting for the latest news now. So much greed and power control.

        • AuburnScribbler

Thanks for the read Rozina, and yeah, it's a very terrible time now, and the horror has barely begun, but surely, sense will win, and the way in which, we all have to move on, is to stop giving people like him power. As a species, we really do need to learn from our mistakes, especially such a one as Putin!

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well!
