Tune: Laudes Domini
('When morning gilds the skies')
*********
Lord, you do still invite
Though some may do you spite
Yet you e'er good and right
Invite to Communion
You our Saviour, the one
Redeeming work have done
The message stays the same
Salvation in your name
From heaven to earth you came
Blessings here we recall
Your death for one and all
Trusting you, we not fall
Grace of your forgiveness
Gave your life, nothing less
We humbly here confess
That you have made the way
To God, the price did pay
Thanks be to you alway
For 'tis our life, our health
Treasures of endless wealth
All faithful, true, no stealth
Bread, your body broken
Wine, your blood, the token
For us, you words spoken
Grant we regularly
Partake sacrament free
Though not compelled we be
But from our heart's desire
Our love for you, warm fire
You our true light and star
Some blessing may be seek
Open to humble, meek
Strength to the poor and weak
And sharing in this fare
'Tis for all, everywhere
Eternal life to share

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.6. 6.6.6. format. I admit I have not been in person to Communion for some time, even with restrictions lifted. In one place, it just seemed rather 'tacked on' once a month, as though it 'got in the way' of endless 'Choruses' (arrgghhh!). Some other places have it every week, every Sunday AND midweek shorter Service. Take your pick!

My word, is it the 26th Feb already .. of course it must be .. Tis there, up there, write next to your name & the word published ... and goodness me .. Your authors note is a confession in itself ... Neville 🙂
Thanks N. Erm, I'm not sure when I write this one, but it could be one in a sort of 'series' - 'Poems wrote over 1,000 poems ago'! And yes, Feb 26th. I never knew it went so quick.
'They', the Chorus 'fanatics', knoweth not what a hymn book is hardly. It's a special occasion if they dust them down and get them out for an actual hymn - gasp! staggers back in amazement!
Good stuff Orchi - Miss Berles sends her love and asks if you have any spare 'us' - she's running short .
Thanks M. lol. I might have a couple of 'us' spare, though I've used a lot here! Oops used up more even commenting, and more in saying '*sed *p'. Oops, all gone now!.
So beautiful Orchi, never stop spreading the word my friend, it's a beautiful thing to do,honor the Lord as much as, and anyway we can
Thanks Blue. Not to worry - my singing, or lack of it, is an in-joke on here! lol. Yes, reading of St Francis and Franciscans at present - commendable Christ-like lifestyles.
Aw Orchi, how bad can your singing be,
My chicken attacks me when I sing (hahahahaha)
True story
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
