Tell me that joke, once again,
I need it, to make me smile,
I have been wading, with a frown,
a long whole bloody while.
But, maybe that joke, is the pain,
that comprises my poison pool,
I continue to swim in, day to day,
to refuel my deeds so cruel.
So, perhaps, instead of a joke,
tell me some aching truth,
that will give unto me clarity,
thus, in crying, I will soothe.
Hence, let me be less a joke,
so I can be one; that is more pure,
I know, I cannot be perfect,
but too much shame is on the floor.

- Comment from author about the poem: With what's going on in the world today, I ask myself, is the "normal routine" of things, a joke that's got out of hand? The way we decide, the way we act, and of course, what we think is important, comprises the status quo, and the current state of affairs, leaves a lot to be desired. Being a human myself, I am ashamed of adding to the poison, either it be directly or indirectly, but I'm really trying to be better, by being more judicious in my choice of activities. I know we all need to hold on to a much needed smile, but if we continue to let "the joke" dictate what we are, then we will remain callous clowns, that will continue to deface the Earth and each other. Sorry again for another "preachy poem", but I hope you enjoy and take something from it, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

Thanks for the read Rozina, and for your very kind comment.
I hope that all is well!
Very good words Ben, many treat life as a joke but you and I know that life can be wonderful if we go our own way and ignore the so called leaders.
Andy
Thanks for the read Andy, and I agree with you, for life to be a total joke, will leave a lot of serious perception out, but I understand with what you've alluded to, it's so important, to have a balance of both the laugh, and the graft, and of course, the sense to recognise the dangers of certain people.
Thanks again, and I hope that all is well!
Very nice poem! I felt the message you were conveying and you expressed it with a shrewd mindset. We're too often overlooking our current situations and disregarding it as unimportant and I feel like you expressed that with the "joke" that's being passed on. We need to pass that stage and accept the reality, even if it's "some aching truth." Well done! 💖✨
