If you’ve ever heard
The masterpiece
Entitled:
“Au Clair De La Lune”
Then you know exactly what I’m talking about.
This work of artistry
Is – beyond words.
There is no one word in the English dictionary
That can fully encompass just the amount of weight
This classical piece possesses.
But we can try!
It’s a sensation of profound nostalgia,
A feeling of yearning something you never experienced at all.
It’s a simple child bike ride, training wheels on,
Passing droopy trees and headed - towards eternity –
It’s a gust of wind that snatched your hat –
And led it to a safer place, a place where bliss lies.
It’s a sensation that everything in this world,
Will play out as the Heavens intended.
It’s a daisy out in the pouring rain, drinking of the abundant waters,
Simply saying: “Thank you for a chance to live.”
It’s a sonic experience which transcends the listener,
Into utopias of ecstasy and delight, but then again, wonder.
It’s the wondering of,
“Will I be able to ride that child bike again?”
It’s the thoughts of,
“Will everything play out like the World intended it to?”
It’s the brooding of,
“Were my parents always right, will I become somebody in this life?”
It’s the lingering, ever-lasting, persistent question,
“What will happen – in the afterlife?”
Will we reconcile and reunite lost ones?
Will we grasp intangible memories and transport them into eternity?
Will we understand the abstract and simply let our guard down?
Will we –
It’s a sensation – that is inexplicable.
It’s a bubble floating through life-sized technicolor flowers –
Surrounded by dripping and wishing and a loss in magnitude.
It’s a simple day – where everything became nothing,
And sadness slips away.
It’s a firm intimate embrace from a beloved,
Where tears are nonexistent, and love lifts its gaze –
To the clouds and frolics with the sky bees, slowly, slowly,
Drifting to a place, of unbeknown splendor.
There’s no need to fear anymore –
We are safe.
All we need is someone to be able to hold us
Like Clair de Lune does –
To be able to reach past the unlimited sky –
And become one with the coexistence.
Didn’t you know?
We were born to fly!

You know Ms de Lune? Her first name is Clair.
I talk some rubbish! lol.
Hehe! Honestly though like: "Ohhhh Hello Clair De Lune!" I mean its a little wacky but people will get used to it! π
Somewhere in the world, there is a person of that name, I'm sure. Maybe more than one!
I discovered Debussy in the 1970's and Clair de Lune has been my favourite piece of classical music ever since.
I like your tribute, it is fitting.
There are so many recordings of this piece, Here are a couple of notable ones you may care to give a listening:-

Beautifully done. Music as much as poetry can carry us to heights beyond. Each of us with different tastes. Beauty and art are in the eye of the beholder. I love all types of music.

I'll need to come back to this as I do read slow but as I skipped back up to get it a favourite... played your tune and then had to go check! It is the dance song on my daughters bedtime play list....
As you said no words can really replace the feeling of love it can give, different under an environment.
Thank you for your magnificent try π
Much peace and respect
Thank you so much Dan! I'm delighted to hear your lovely words and this classic is perfect for beddy-byes! It truly has the ability to transport the listener into a place of solace and splendor. Thanks for enjoying and "faving" it! Have a lovely day! πβ¨πΉ
Amazing how music lifts the soul to a great state of calm, and sometimes trance like delirium.
Exactly the feeling Paul! It's a sensation that is so tranquil and almost stupor-like. That's why I love music, it is a powerful mood-changer. Thanks for stopping by and for appreciating my work, have a great day! πβ¨
Why, oh why, did I turn up, to post some crass, uncultured, unrefined comment, beneath my dignity?! lol.
Cos I always turn up. lol.
Now they call out in street 'Hi Clair!'
If I got nothing sensible to say - oh well, say it anyway!
Oh Orchidee! Your mouth your rules! π Feel free to express yourself how you feel best fitting. Also I'm lowkey contemplating naming my daughter (if I ever have one) Clair. It sounds pleasing to the ear! π β¨π
So lovely Rocky! Thank you.
Hey Rozina! You're the best! Thanks for always making time in your day to stop by my poems, it's much appreciated! I'm glad to hear that I was able to pep your day up just a little bit more with my writing! Have a wonderful day! π
Good words Rocky, I know that tune so very well and have been listening to that type of music for seventy years.
Andy
Hey! Clair De Lune is for sure one of those songs that can just pass on from generation to generation and never get old. It's so calming and it really has a power to stir the heart. I'm so happy to see you enjoyed my attempt on bringing the song into words and may you have a restful day! ππΉβ¨
This piece is one of my favorites after a long day at work or when my brain buzzes off or after being through the thick coursebooks, or at lonely dusk. I sometimes listen to this one on repeat just for the soothing effect on the soul. I could feel and visualize each word of the poem with the music playing in the backdrop.
Awe-inspiring as always, Rocky. β¨π
Thank you so so much! I mean that was really my ultimate goal, to transcend the reader into bliss and also reflection. I just wanted to express the way the song makes me feel to the best of my abilities. I'm glad to see you enjoyed it and I hope that you have a wonderful day! π
