Youth's Blood.
Cut locks
fall floor-ward.
Cropped hair
soft lies.
Docked curls
chopped off.
So ends
teenage lives.
Young minds
like glory.
War makes
boys men.
Shaved heads
bend more.
Youth's
blood spills again.

That is pared down and very savage, Fay - absolutely spot on.
ragged & real ... just the way it needs to be under the circumstances ..
brill & shows off your versatility to a Tee my lady .. x
"Am I hurtin you soldier"
"No sir"
"Well I bloody well ought to be, I'm standin on your hair GET IT CUT"
Yours is the trim story of history repeating itself. Young lives captured for cannon fodder duties. Old men no good for it - they're too wise.
'War!
is the young, dying
not knowing why
they're really, sacrificing
their precious lives
and old people, plotting
rehashing
history's mistakes, again
n again
with such, disdain for life...'
(thank you! dear Fay
how haunting that image
and your mirroring words
of infuriated, desperation..
forgive me
I couldn't help but scribble
a little poetic reply)
hope you're feeling better
A poignant write Fay.
Wow Fay! That line "War makes boys men" is so impactful. Truly well crafted and the message is so real and depressing. What a sad time we're living in; we can only hope for the best. 💖✨
Always the youth, many won't get to grow their hair ever again....
Powerful poem.
Clever words Fay.
