How Well Will You Remember Me

Neville

How Well Will You Remember Me

How if at all, will you remember me

my love ..

And indeed, how cruel or well ..

What tastes

and scents and sounds of me, shall you

recall perchance ..

One whole year from now ..

And should

my touch so much as ever be recalled

mid any long

and likewise, dark or fretful nights of your

inevitable tomorrows ..

Then pray do think of me in fondest

terms only ..

Since all such things, were yours, my love

upon a time once ..

And oh’ so extraordinarily well and truly ..

An understandable plea from one whose warm heart needs that bit of something to combat aging - - The fine traits and the good times with others will surely leave marks coated with love and stored for remembering. Thank you dear Nev for wording what most of us question yet cannot express.........x

in one of my older scribbles
            I remember writing
            'I shall keep that promise
I broke, while at your side'
            (or something like that)
and that's what essence you imbue
            in these words, I think
            a yearning
            for us not, to become
            yet another source
            of hurt
            to the ones, we once
            loved, so earnestly
            with all our heart...
            (as-ever your subtlety
just drips between my defenceless cracks
            and bleeds my bruises anew
staining my scars, a little darker
while reminding me of my fallibility
            and reaffirming my choices
            to become, that better me
            I strive to find..)
            simply beautiful honesty and bravery
being showcased in your poetry, dear empathetic Poet

Yes I wonder these things too, but it must be so if true love was involved.

Indeed I'm reminded of the time when I discovered that the young lady singing in a group i was playing with disclosed to me that she was the daughter of one of my old flames and had heard such wonderful stories about me as only a mother would share with her daughter. My head swelled - and I wrote poetry.

as far as I can recall, I have never yet been so fortunate and can fully appreciate how for a moment at least, you may have required a hat two or three sizes larger .... and ta for being so reassuring N 🙂

I know what I'll remember and it's not between the sheets!

A tip top poetic sailor, I even had the pleasure to meet. Sharing a love for a scruffy tail, carry our hearts for all to see!

                Just saying..... that is..
                Great work

I actually feel such feelings too as my mother died somewhat young. You shall be remembered fondly, I'm sure. Those around you that love you will be changed forever. Don't go anywhere soon, we're sure to miss your wonderful poetry!...C
