Abused and misused for many years
Memories bring back biting tears
But now it doesn't have to be that way,
Thoughts of hurting no longer at my core
My mind and body don't have to be at war
The depression did not need to stay.
I lost my penchant for poetry
It's like I lost a piece of me
Life resumes at it's usual pace,
There is a fighting spirit inside
No longer needing a place to hide
A smile begins to form on my face.

It's so nice to see you've decided to focus on the brighter side of life. Mental health issues, like depression, is really a setback for our developments. I can say this because I also suffer from it and I know it isn't easy to wade through. But just know that there are people who love you. And you will find that inspiration for poetry, observe the world and you will find it. This was great. 💖
Thank you so much for your comments! What an honor to be favorited by a talented poet like yourself! I really appreciate it all, Rocky!
Oh you're such a well-wisher. Calling me "talented" and all. I just write what comes from my heart and hope for the best. So to see you look highly of me is so sweet. You too are a talented poet, with so much to give, I can't wait to see the masterpieces that you will deliver. 💖
Thank you! Truly. Thank you!
I read here, through your message, that poetry writing can set us free to be the person we really are. Sets us free to explore deeper into ourselves, pushes us the evaluate, experiment, create.
Poetry, a path to wisdom perhaps.
I enjoy reading poetry which provokes me into thought as does yours today.

Excellent write chrissy
And relevant to myself and I'm sure many others
Losing the feel for reading and writing from time to time
Great to see your ink flowing freely again.
Painful start to this one
Finishing with a great fighting spirit
Thank you so much for your honest feedback. It is appreciated so much! I also lose the feel for writing from time to time...but when the time is right I can put out something decent. Can't wait to see what you write! Again, Stevie, thank you so much!!
I like this little poem. It says a lot in its 12 lines. Love the rhyme scheme. My fave lines: "I lost my penchant for poetry. It's like I lost a piece of me." To be honest though, I loved all the lines. I love, "it doesn't have to be that way." And I love how it ends so upbeat, with a smile returning to your face. A lovely poem.
Kevin, this comment made my day!! I learned the rhyme scheme from a great friend, so I wasn't always rhyming in couplets. Really glad you liked it! I still can only write but once in a while--things worth posting anyway. Thank you so much!!!
