I walk down to My River,
It is running so fast.
The green mirror that it was
Is a deep murky brown
Where the rain has persisted
And the earth from around
Has flowed into My River.
But I know,
I know all will be better soon
And the green waters
Will flow gently once more
Bringing peace and wonder to my life.
Why cannot the world be like this,
Be like My River.
The horror of war flowing red.
Where is the peace that was there,
And surrounded by the blue,
The blue of the beautiful sky
Bringing love and joy to all.
To all in our world.

I think there is some peace .. in some places and in some peoples lives . The war is so unfair and cruel .. I can’t understand , there’s no need for it at all ((
Good writing goldfinch .. like your mention of the river
Thank you yellowrose, yes there is some peace but why isn't it everywhere.
Andy
Good write Gold.
Thank you Orchi.
(how many great poems
has that river inspired within you, lol)
another brilliantly contemplative, meditation
that poetic expression of mediation
capturing a breath of wisdom, between
despairing anarchy
and a second look's, reality
to judge
just how bad, is our current
bad
truly?...
I bow to your wisdom, dear poet
Most kind Mek, I am so grateful for your words.
Andy
Why indeed, that would be a world changer.
But aside from that, I wish the inner peace which shines through your writing daily, could be found for so many of the poets here on mps. Would that everyone could find such inner peace. What need for war then?
Yes d a, there seems to be a lack of inner peace on many words written but peace is always in my body and mind,
Andy
Andy,
At the moment I can see that river’s troubled waters. Let’s hope that soon
‘the green waters
Will flow gently once more’.
I am confident that they will.
Thank you for sharing Elaine Page’s rendition of ‘Memory’…
one of my favorites.

Yes those green waters will flow once more and hopefully peace will flow in our world.
Glad I found one of your favourite songs.
Andy
you ask a very pertinent question .. sadly I think the simple answer is a three letter word beginning with M and ending in N .................... N
So true Neville they have a great deal for which to answer.

Wow I love this river imagery. It's really good at getting the message across and the meaning is heavy but true. Peace for the world! ✨
hank yu Rocky, yes peace for the world would be wonderful.
Andy
May the peace of the river flow into our chaotic world soon my friend - a beautiful read.
Thank you Fay, yes may that peace be with us soon.

So wonderful that you chose Elaine Page's exquisite performance of "Memories" to accompany this beautiful poem of yearning. You possess the ability to bring together words and music in such a powerful way. I truly love this poem!
Your words are much appreciated Bella,
Andy
Just stay with the river, Andy.
Don't extrapolate; it doesn't work.
My River will always be there for me Dave.
Andy
Impressed that you are still writing a poem a day. I haven't been here for about 3 years but it seems you've been busy all that time. Excellent stuff.
Thank you Garry, yes still writing one a day. Welcome back.
